Students on our Complete Training Course learn five different ways to apply hair solutions, but it can be difficult to know which one is best for each client. To help you decide which to recommend, here is our guide to everything you need to know about hair loss integration systems.

What are Hair Loss Integration Systems?

Hair loss integration systems, also known as “mesh integration” or “crown volumisers,” are increasingly popular solutions for people suffering from alopecia, thinning hair, and hair that may be too short for traditional extensions. This method is well-known and trusted by many clients seeking a natural-looking, full head of hair.

Each system involves a fine, breathable mesh that integrates with the client’s existing hair. The client’s natural hair is pulled through the mesh and additional hair is then added, providing coverage and volume. The mesh is secured to the client’s natural hair with small, discreet bonds or clips, creating a seamless and natural appearance.

Advantages of Hair Loss Integration Systems

There are many advantages to hair loss integration systems, making them a perfect solution for numerous clients. The mesh is very durable, and with proper maintenance, the system can last several months.

Clients often worry about potential damage to their natural hair, but these systems are designed to be gentle. When applied by a trained professional, like our graduates, the integration system does not cause damage to the hair or scalp. Additionally, these systems require fewer maintenance appointments than some other methods, often every few months rather than every few weeks.

Hair loss integration systems are also very versatile. They can add volume and coverage without the need for chemical treatments or adhesives, making them suitable for clients with sensitive scalps. These systems can be customized to blend seamlessly with the client’s natural hair colour and texture, providing a very natural look. Whether your client wants to wear their hair up or down, the integration system remains invisible and secure.

Are there disadvantages to Hair Loss Integration Systems?

No single method is right for everyone, and hair loss integration systems do have some downsides. The application process can take several hours, sometimes up to six to eight hours for a full installation, which may not be suitable for busy clients or those lacking patience. Additionally, these systems often cannot be reused once removed, making them a more expensive option in the long term.

It’s important that clients avoid excessive tension or rough handling of the mesh. Gentle care and appropriate products are essential to maintain the integrity of the system. However, once clients become accustomed to caring for their integration system, they will find it provides the beautiful and natural-looking hair they desire.

Who should have Hair Loss Integration Systems?

If you have a client who is seeking a long-lasting, durable solution without frequent maintenance appointments, and who is willing to spend a few hours for the initial application, then a hair loss integration system may be the right method for them. This method is particularly beneficial for clients with alopecia, thinning hair, or hair too short for extensions, offering them a chance to enjoy a full, voluminous head of hair.
